Geocache Description:

A famous Chumash indian site with pictographs located on the Carrizo Plain.

Eventhough this site is located in a very remote area you are apt to run into a lot of people here. They are looking at the indian pictographs painted on the very large rock. Many have already been defaced. See if you can spot the space man that must have visited them???

The cache is located in a large hole (about 4ft wide) at ground level in the largest rock about .3 mile from Painted Rock. It is a cylinder about 3 x 6 inches. It only has a log. You may have to get on your knees to see it. Be careful of critters that bite. This is a very wild area.

The area is closed from March 1 to July 15 for raptor nesting season except for special saturday tours which may be booked in advance. See links for details.
