Geocache Description:

This is one of those Big Beaver Boards you see as you go flying by on the highways and byways of Oregon. It used to be part of the "Oregon History Lesson" series.

The cache page was changed on 11-05-2024, and new information was added to reflect changes to the sign.

I was "advised" to archive this and post a new cache instead of redoing it, but that would have removed over 21 years of cache history.

Nice easy find, just about a drive-by but we can not have that now can we?

This is a nice multi-stage cache, but since the State has decided to rewrite history and change this sign, we have had to make adjustments to the cache page.

The posted waypoint should take you to the Beaver Board for "Dry River Canyon." It used to say "Prehistoric," but the state, in all its wisdom, or some joker who was offended, decided to change a 60-year-old sign and its information.

To start off, to get the cache coordinates, ignore the top two (2) lines or you will be lost, either way down in the canyon or standing in the road, neither one would be a good thing.

The cache is located at N43:55.ABC W121:00.DEF

To get "AB", count the total lines in the body of the information.

To get "C" you need the number of letters in the first word of the ninth line.

To get "D" you need the number of letters in the middle word of the information.

To get "E" you need the number of letters in the sixth word of the fifth line.

To get "F" you need the number of letters in the second word.

This cache is a coin exchange with a log to sign.

Please bring a scribble stick as there might not be one in this cache.

Now do not get lost in counting because you're looking for a small container, hopefully with a or some coin(s) in it.

Do not and there is no need to go over the edge, and I mean “Over the Edge“, it is on top.

Remember to bring something to write with, as there is none in the container.
