Geocache Description:

Gosnells Hills area. Slippery Gravel beware and take a drink with you. Binocculars would be good too.

Top-O-the Hill. You will find this cache in the area of Gosnells Hills. We were coming home on the train from the city and could see a huge un-housed hill. We wondered what could be up there. So we went driving and walking and found it a fascinating park. We would suggest doing this cache in the morning as the hill will shade you when you walk up it.
We have identified 2 good places to park. We chose these because they offered some degree of protection for your car or a reasonable walk in.
The first one is where we parked. Turner road right near an entrance to the park and opposite houses, by far the safer option for your car. S 32.06.195 E 116.01.526 Altitude 34 meters.
The second we didn’t try but we are sure it goes though. Mills road just near the brake fail gravel ramp. Go in through the gated track. Not as secure for your car but it may be a more level track in. S 32.05.277 E 116.01.919 Altitude is 153 meters
If you take the way in from Turner road you can follow the tracks up to the disused Viaduct. S 32.05.971 E 116.01.759 and at 128meters altitude. We aren’t sure where the viaduct went from or to but we will try to find out the information. (unless someone else knows and tells us before)
When you get to the Viaduct you can follow the path along above it. It’s a nice easy path and is almost level.
At S 32.05.805 E 116.01.698 There is a track to the right heading uphill. This is the track you will need to find to get to the cache. It’s a slippery gravel track and is steep. A short way up this track take the left fork and then follow your GPS from here to find the cache.
You are now at 168 meters so you have climbed about 134 meters. It seems higher. We would suggest taking a bit of food to eat and a drink. Make sure you sit and rest and if you have some shoes suited to slippery gravel we would suggest using them. We found Sneakers weren’t ideal.
If you come in from the other way (Mills road) it may be easier, but it will also be longer. We didn’t explore this direction but someone walking his dog said he had just walked in from there. No guarantees on that one. Just make sure you take the correct track above the Viaduct. Coordinates (S 32.05.805 E 116.01.698)
Cache contains a few things. First one there gets a “First Finders Certificate” and there is an engraved lighter. Plus a few other things typical of caches.
We hope you like the walk even if it is a hard one. Lyn Pat and Nathan.
