Geocache Description:

By a reservoir at the base of Mt Tom, in Holyoke, MA

Hi, this is my first placed geocache, and I thought I would try a little something new ... or at least something I've never seen before. Instead of this working like a typical geo cache where you take something out and then put something back in ... with this geocache you only put something in ... what you get out of it is the pleasure of reading/viewing what's inside.
I want this to be a collection of personal expressions compiled by you, the geocacher, through any form of creativity, be it poetry, journal entries, a quick thought, drawing, small paintings (or pictures of larger ones), photography, basically anything that will fit into the ammo box (roughly 6 x 10 inches I'd say) that is original (meaning created BY YOU) and personal. This collection is open for viewing or contribution to anyone and everyone despite age, gender, race, etc. I want this to be a collection of HUMAN expression. The bigger this collection grows the better, so I encourage everyone to contribute something (remember it doesn't matter how good or talented you think you are, EVERYTHING is welcome)!
There are a few ways you can go about contributing to the cache ... first is in the Log Book, treat it as you would any other geocache log book, but also feel free to write, or draw, or whatever, your work right in the log book ... just be sure to sign, print your username (or regular name), and date everything you do. The second way to contribute is to bring your contribution with you (meaning you've already written, drew, painted or photographed something ). I have a separate ziplock bag labeled "PRE-CREATED" in the cache for those circumstances. Be sure to sign, print your username (or regular name), and date these too. I also have a 3rd ziplock bag for any quick snap shots or photos of the Mt. Tom area that anyone is welcome to contribute to. I think this will be an interesting cache to watch grow and visit time and time again to always find something new. With all that said... more on the location!
The cache is located by a reservoir at the base of Mt Tom. I believe the name of the reservoir is Whiting St. Reservoir... Use the old Mt. Tom access road off rt. 5 in Holyoke to get there. Park when you can't go any further and head down the road on the left by foot, and use your GPS from there. If you have time after you've found the cache do some exploring around the area, I've spent a lot of my highschool years around there and there are all sorts of cool spots like the demolished old Mt. Tom amusement park. Also if you feel like doing some off trail bush whacking, we've found some pretty cool water falls on the opposite side of the reservoir. Have fun and enjoy your hunt!
