This cache is located on the Hat Creek Rim in the Lassen National Forest and is a great place to bring a picnic and watch our winged friends.
The cache is about 7.5 miles off the main road. The first half of the drive is paved leading through ranch land. The second half of the drive is on well maintained gravel roads. A good place to start your hunt is at the Fireside Village Store and Cafe (N40 48.417 W121 30.777). The Fireside is a good place to stop for breakfast or lunch and also has local maps and information.
If you are here during the week, you may want to plan on stopping by the Radio Observatory for a short tour. The observatory has a short video and if you are lucky, an astronomer will be on hand to answer your questions. They are open M-F 9a-3p.
