Geocache Description:

This is a reasonably easy Zephyrus type multi-cache in a clear 2 quart Rubbermaid container located in quite possibly the oldest cemetery in Jacksonville. Access to cache is 24/7/364.

Night owls please be considerate of the neighbors! If they see lunatics with flashlights in the cemetery at night you might find Johnny Law shining his light on YOU!

One of the hardest parts to this cache is finding a place to park. I suggest parking on the other side of the railroad tracks at N30 17.802 W081 38.543. There is a place where you could turn directly in to the cemetery but PLEASE DON'T! It is much too close to the graves and will look unsightly if it gets rutted out by traffic. Let's be respectful!

The listed coordinates are to the first hint site. There were a couple of stuffed animals left at this site by someone before me. Please leave them there. You'll understand. Bring some tissue... Once you find the spot, calculate the following to find the next step in the hunt:

1. Numeric value of the precious one's last name minus day born minus day died = total. If the precious one is a boy add to North coordinate, if a girl subtract. {duh....}

2. Numeric value of precious one's name minus numeric value of the mother's name = total. Add total to west coordinate if mother's name starts with an S, subtract if it starts with an A. Think it through - it's obvious once you think about it. No guessing is needed! Bonus points if you email me your reasoning. If you really want to prove your brain power to me - email the answer to the following question WITH YOUR REASONS. What child is this one? (i.e. first, second, third, etc.) Everything you need to make a reasonable assumption is right at the site - no need to look at other graves, etc.

2a. I found an error in my calculations that made it a little tough on the first hunters - add 5 to the very first total in 2. That should make things a little more exact.

3. Go to the new coordinates. You're getting warm!

On to the next clues to get that container of loot into your hot little hands!

Using the coordinates you just deciphered, make these corrections to give you the coordinates to the actual location.

NORTH: Subtract the age in years of the favorite daughter, add the ages of the 2 youngest kids.

WEST: Add the year Vernon died, subtract the year Jack was born.

TA-DA! Now, on to the loot!

OK.... the loot's not THAT great. Check out the markers at these coordinates for a very interesting bit of history:

N30 17.726 W81 38.586 N30 17.727 W81 38.573

You don't see these every day!

As always - cache in - trash out. The Boy Scouts did a great job bringing this area back from the brink. Let's do our part to help keep it nice.

This the the jumping off cache for my Mr Happy! travel bug. Get the little sucker moving!
