Welcome to the Pits! Cache is located in a Mined Land Wildlife Area west of Pittsburg Kansas. This area offers excellent hunting and fishing and the pits have been stocked with largemouth bass and channel catfish. HUNTING IS ALLOWED IN THIS AREA so take that into consideration during hunting season.
The cache is located about 15 feet off an animal trail and will be fairly easy or it could be really difficult depending on the way you take to the cache. Animal trails abound in this area and are the easiest way to get through the brush to find the cache. Where to park? Hmm, well there is a north gate, that is closed, and a south gate that was open at the time the cache was placed. If you take the road through the south gate till you can’t go any further, it will bring you within ¼ mile from the cache. Parking at the north gate is approximately ½ mile away. Dress appropriately for this cache, there will be bugs, weeds, stickers, and maybe snakes. You may also see wildlife like deer and quail. The container is a small plastic jar with a 4” lid opening so keep that in mind when bringing items for trade.
