Geocache Description:

The cache is placed approximately .36 miles from the parking lot, on the Mtn. to Sea Alt. Trail. A traditional, single track mountain trail.

IT SEEMS THAT BCUTS COORDINATES WERE CLOSER THAN OURS AS STATED WE REALLY HAD PROBLEMS GETTING GOOD COORDINATES. WE HAVE CHANGED THE COORDINATES TO THE ONES POSTED BY BCUT. I HOPE THIS WILL MAKE IT EASIER TO FIND.

Directions:
From the junction of Hwy 64 and Hwy 276 go west on Hwy 276 1.4 miles and turn right (2nd road) as if to enter the Ranger District’s gated work center; park in the paved lot to the right of the work center. Parking coordinates are N 35 17.048 W 082 43.343. The Black Mountain Trail starts on the old dirt road behind the parking lot. Start up the dirt road and continue until you come to the Black Mtn. trail on your left. Turn left and follow it. In about 300 yards you will be at the junction of Black Mtn and Mtn. to Sea Alt. trails. This is a fairly level trail up to the cache. The steepest part of the trail is the first 85 feet.

The coordinates for this one are really bad. We used a GPS V and a GPS III+ and averaged each and could never walk back to the cache. We tried more than once and came back again and tried with no better results. This one has tree cover, rocks and running water close by and The signals are deflected.

READ cache report CAREFULLY, check the clues and LOOK at the pictures to ensure your success.

Cache Location:
After you turn to the left on the Black Mountain Trail in less than .2 mile the Mtn. to Sea Alt. trail will lead off to the right. There is a trail marker indicating the trail. The cache is placed less than 80 feet from the junction of the trails on the Mt. to Sea Trail. The cache container is a traditional Tupperware shoebox container with a blue lid filled with small exchangeable items and is hidden under the base of a living tree. The view of the cache is blocked blocked by bark. The GPS was really jumping around and I highly advise everyone to read the clue or at least look at part of the pictures to get your bearing.

On August 25, 2005, we replaced the cache container with a new one. It is now a 6" X 6" plastic container with a rather tight-fitting lid. PLEASE make sure you completly reseal the lid, and rehide it well. Thanks.
