Interstate Music Exchange Traditional Cache

GeoLink: Intestate Musix Exchange, Deceased Memorial Day, 2004
OBITUARY

Sadly, the Interstate Music Exchange is no longer available. I verified this today, after being notified by Sandtrappers of their failed attempt. The area of the cache has significantly overgrown since being placed and now forms something of a natural grotto with the tree and fence. I suspect this natural coverage attracted campers who stumbled upon the ammo box and looted it. I found two of the CD's that were in the cache (The Jam "Greatest Hits" and Meat Puppets "Forbidden Places") about 100 yards away. They had been obviously tossed aside as the looters returned to the parking area.

The IMX was one of the most visited caches in the Richmond area, an easy find for new geocachers, and had a nice cache of prizes for music lovers. I-95 travelers frequently dropped off travel bugs. It will be missed.

I will plan to put up IMX2 in the near future to continue the fun. The two CD's that the looters rejected will be included in the new cache.

Geocache Description:

Designed as an easy find for music lovers wishing to trade CD's and other music related items with one another.

This is a music-themed cache. Please maintain the theme when placing objects. However, travel bugs of any type are welcome. The type of music you leave is up to you. CD-R's are welcome. Live concert recordings are nice. Have a band of your own? Drop your group's CD in the geocache and share your talents with the rest of us.

Located in Bryan Park, near the intersection of I-95 and I-64. Despite where the map may show its location, this cache is not available directly from the interstate (that's dangerous to stop on the side of the road, anyway!).

Bryan Park closes at sunset each day.
