Geocache Description:

The name of the cache says it all. When you come here be sure to have a bird in the hand. Everything in the cache is bird-related. I'm compiling a list of birds in this park. When I placed this cache I was in the area for about 15 minutes and saw a dozen different species of birds. Let me know what birds you spot while you're there so I can add them to my list.

This is the first cache I've placed so I would appreciate any constructive criticism you can give. All the coordinates seem to be good. The only one that was a little tough to get was the actual cache. The trees made it hard to get a good read, but I think it's pretty darn close. PLEASE let me know if it's not. In a pinch, the clues should get you there.

The intermediate points will lead you on a short walk through this North Clackamas Park District park that should give you a chance to see at least 6 or 7 different species of birds and as many as 20 or 30 if you're lucky.

You won't have to leave the paved and gravel roads until you get to the actual cache. And even then you don't need to leave the road until you're within 50 or 60 feet of the cache.

The coordinates will get you to the parking area for this cache. There is only room for a couple of cars here. PLEASE don't block the gate! If you drive a Ford Excursion, a Hummer, or any other enormous vehicle you should park on one of the nearby side streets and walk.

Once you get to the parking area there is a sign with a phone number AAA-BBBB.

The coordinates for the next point are: N 45º 25.AAA+500
W122º 35.BBBB-3993

When you get here, look to the west. The top number on the depth gauge = CC. This is a good place to check the altitude on your GPS receiver. It is accurate within a few inches. If you decide to check it out, be sure to respect the wetlands and watch where you walk on the way to the depth gauge. For those of you who are visually impaired like myself and PDXJim, look at hint #1 for the number.

The coordinates to the next point are: N 45º 25.779-CC
W 122º 35.084+CC

Now count the number of boulders blocking the road. The number of boulders = D

The coordinates to the next point are: N 45º 25.700+(13xD)
W 122º 35.47D

When you get to this point, look to your left. On the utility pole is a white sign with a black 3-digit number. The number is EEE.

The coordinates to the next point are: N 45º 25.EEE+64
W 122º 35.EEE-214

The number of "guards" standing here = FF

Now for the coordinates to the cache: N 45º 25.(49+CC+D+EEE+FF)
W 122º 35.(26-CC+D+EEE+FF)

The final location is an ammo can containing: A log book and pen
The Get Well Duck TB
A bird feeder
A DVD with a bird in the title
A PEZ dispenser
A bird puzzle
A bird book
and a few other bird-related items

Don't worry about trampling the ground cover. In fact, it's encouraged. And while you're in the area, feel free to yank some of the ivy off at least one of the trees in the vicinity. Every little bit helps. Thanks!
