I fell in love with this location when I found it searching for a local, regular cache. This cache is virtual so that it does not require you to leave the trail, interfere with the habitat, or put yourself at risk of meeting a rattlesnake by searching for a container. This cache does give you the chance to experience the AV as it once must have been, to learn about this valley as a habitat, and, if you go early enough in the morning (park opens at 6 AM), to spot some wildlife.
The coordinates above will take you to the trailhead that enters the preserve. From there, your task is to locate the placard that will answer this question:
What 2 types of quail are found in this part of the Mojave Desert?
Email me with the answer, and I will cheerfully leave your log posted on this page. The hint will take you to a single placard with ALL of this info on it, although there are also other placards that talk about quails. And whatever time of day you happen to be there, look for the tracks where my small friends danced in the sand!
Thanks, ~Treasure Seekers~, for showing me this place!
