NOTE 10/14/2005: Hiker Jo and Steve checked on the cache, and
couldn't find it, so we replaced it with a new container and
starting goodies. Our apologies to those of you who made the climb
and it wasn't there! BUT - SURELY you enjoyed the views!
NOTE 07/15/2001: Correction has been made to GPS coordinates AND
cache type is now MULTI-CACHE.
This is the first cache our group has placed and it was a
challenge in several ways. The monsoon was kicking up before
11:00am so we were in a bit of a hurry to get off the mountaintop,
not wanting to be lightning bait.
The hike up is relatively steep. There is no trail, but you can
follow game trails for some distance. Near the top, the brush is
very thick, the boulders are large and patches of cactus are
waiting for you to make one false step.
The cache is now (10/05) in a clear plastic jug and contains
various goodies from toys to camping gear, plus logbook, geocache
intro letter, pens, pencil.
Go EARLY in the day during monsoon season to be off the mountain
before the storms start. You will be rewarded with great views of
the surrounding peaks including Bill Williams Mountain, the San
Francisco Peaks, Kendrick, etc. Enjoy an ice cream at Twisters in
Williams to celebrate your find.
The Hiders for this geocache were Tyge, Tim, Steve, Laura and
Jo.
Part II - In the first cache, you will find directions to the
second, a Virtual Cache. It is a vertical lava-tube cave. Legend
has it that The Sundance Kid never hid out here.
