The manzanita tree, with its shiny smooth red bark and silvery green leaves, is one of our favorite trees on Mount Diablo. While we were hiking, we came across one of the largest manzanitas we had ever seen. We explored the area around the tree and were awed by the incredible views in all directions. The small cache we carried in with us was placed to bring others to this incredible spot.
The cache is in a small plastic container and is packed with small items - bring something small if you want to trade. Please bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log book.
As the crow flies, this cache is not far from others in this park. As the trail goes, the distance is longer. It is completely possible to find the nearby caches in one day, but be prepared for a good hike.
