Geocache Description:

Located in the highest section of White Clay Creek Park that requires a climb of about 160 feet and a visit to ruins of old farmstead

There is a small parking lot located on Thompson Station Road at the intersection with Chambers Rock Road. The David English Trail is a 2.3 mile loop that takes you very close to the cache. The quickest and more interesting route to the cache is to take the left into the David English Trail and in about 60 feet take a right onto the Twin Ponds Cut-Off trail for a 0.4 mile one way hike. Return the same way or take the David English Trail ( 1.2 miles either way) for a different route to the parking lot.

Before this area was part of White Clay Creek State Park, it was a private game preserve, but even before than it was a farm homestead. You will be surprised when you reach the area of your quest that overlooks old farm fields and two small ponds, my favorite place in the park

The cache is located on the site of an old farm where there are the ruins of a barn, house, spring, an old barely standing spring house and a mystery structure. You know you are close to the cache when you find the 12 foot high stone wall that was part of ramp to the old barn.

Once you find the cache, look around the twin ponds area. Can you find the old duck hunting blind that overlooks the pond or the original farm spring that feed the ponds?

Close by is the house ruins (44.134/45.054) and a little further (44.062/45.029) underneath the large pine tree is the mystery structure that is mostly underground. If you have any idea what it is, tell me---no one has yet explained what it was for.

You can take a longer tour by following the abandoned dirt road a little further (44.005/45.056) to the line of deer stands. Follow the deer stands to the right to see the mostly surviving old spring house (44.007/45.072). You can continue on the deer stand line to get back to the upper fields for the shortest return or else go back and continue down the old road and cross the foot bridge to join the David English trail that goes back to the park office.

Please respect the farm ruins since they are protected by law. Do not touch or move any of the stone ruins. Use the hint if needed. There is no need to disturb in any way the ruins.
