Geocache Description:

An easy walk in Ona, West Virginia around the Cabell County Sheriff's Field Office.

"The Toy Box"
This cache is the idea of my son. He and I have gone out "treasure hunting" several times and he wanted to hide some treasure of his own. The cashe is aimed at boys and girls of all ages who are still kids at heart and I want to try and maintain the theme. So come with your favorite kid (either yourself or even better an actual child) and take one toy and leave one toy.

Location
At the red light in Ona turn off of Rt 60 and onto Howell's Mill Rd. Go about .25 mile and turn right into the Cabell County Sheriff's Field Office (also known as the Ona Youth Center or the Ona Farm). Park in the lot provided for those using the facilities and set your waypoint. It is an easy walk over hardpack and grass except for the last 25 yards or so.

Short History
The area buildings were orginally used as a detention center for wayward youths and as a farm for 4H. Numerous arrow heads and other artifacts have been found on the hilltop from the indians which inhabited the area. There is an old cemetary on the southern end of the ridge which was also used as a camp during the civil war.

Have fun
There is a gas station and a grocery store at the intersection of Rt 60 and Howell's Mill Rd so stop and get a picnic and make sure that fun is had by all. Also within walking distance is Cabell Midland Highschool which has tennis and basketball for those wanting some more to do.
