Athens Regional Park: First cache in Athens, TN! This regular cache
has been approved for placement by the City of Athens Tennessee
Parks and Recreation Department. Any caches placed in this park
must be approved by the department.
Sometimes second chances are needed. Life throws us many curves,
uphills and roller coasters. Ever wonder why it all just can't be
downhills? Well, at least there is one downhill you can take to
find a cache.
You can park at N 35° 27.473 W 84° 38.158. You will see the trail
once you enter the trees. Follow the trail to the left and up. The
walk will be about ¾ of a mile.
However, just like answers to life situations, there is always
more than one way to find a cache. If uphill and no trails is your
game, you can go that route too. Park in the Soccer Complex parking
lot.
After you find the cache, take some time to visit the rest of the
park. You can leave the way you came or follow the trail until you
come to a road near the Southeast Tennessee Trade and Conference
Center. From there you can walk the road past the conference center
back to your vehicle or continue on the trail that will lead you
behind the McMinn County Expo building and then to the pavilion and
lake. (Total distance from start of hike to end is about 3 miles.)
