Geocache Description:

A difficult hike to a spectacular vista in the Santa Catalina Mountains.

This cache commemorates the time my friend Allen and I got lost in the vicinity in the midst of a combination snowstorm-lightning storm a few years ago - a very memorable experience as you can imagine!

This virtual cache is on a prominence that veteran hikers of the Santa Catalinas will know well. It will be a particular treat for newcomers with its outstanding views of Mt. Lemmon, the front range, and to the northwest. This area was spared in the large Aspen Fire of 2003 so it should remain one of the more attractive areas to hike in the Catalinas.

To get credit for finding this cache, you must take a picture similar to the one below with your GPSr (or you and your GPSr) on the rocky prominence with Mt. Lemmon and Cathedral Rock in the background and upload the image with your log entry. The image below is from before the Aspen Fire. Things look a bit different now.

The Cache can be reached via either the Pima Canyon Trail (reached via Christie Dr.) or the Finger Rock Trail (starts at the end of Alvernon). These trails are very strenuous and for most of the year will be hot with little or no water. Be prepared!...Have fun!!
