Das Norddeutsche Tiefland ist geprägt von den Spuren der Eiszeiten. Mächtige Gletscher haben Sand und Gestein aus Skandinavien nach Deutschland transportiert. Findlinge aus Granit, Gneis oder Sandstein sind die offensichtlichen Zeugen dieser Epoche. Die größten Exemplare haben natürlich früh die Aufmerksamkeit der Menschen erregt und interessante Legenden entstehen lassen.
Der Cache "Findlinge III" führt euch zum Melzinger Opferstein. Über das eine Ende des Findlings verläuft eine tiefe künstliche Rille, die in früheren Zeiten als "Blutrinne" bezeichnet wurde. Wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen haben ergeben, dass unterhalb des Steines sehr viel organische Substanz in den Boden gelangt ist. Es ist allerdings nicht vollständig geklärt, ob es wirklich auf Opfergaben zurückzuführen ist.
Merke dir alle Details die du dort vorfindest. In wenigen Tagen werde ich einen Cache "Findlinge – Finale" aktivieren, der als Multi-Cache die Informationen aus der Serie "Findlinge I – IV" verwendet. Da relativ große Strecken zurückzulegen sind, werde ich zur Belohnung für einen besonders attraktiven Inhalt sorgen.
Der Cache liegt nicht direkt beim Opferstein, da es dort in den Wintermonaten zu feucht wird. Ich habe ihn 99 m entfernt in Richtung 99° (rechtweisend Nord) platziert.
The North German Lowlands are characterized by the traces of the ice ages. Tremendous glaciers have transported sand and rocks from Scandinavia to Germany. Erratic blocks consisting of granite, gneiss or sandstone are the obvious witnesses to this epoch. Of course the biggest rocks have attracted the attention of our ancestors and were surrounded by wonderful legends.
The cache "Findlinge III" deals with the sacrifice stone of Melzingen. A deep artificial groove which was called "Blutrinne" (blood outlet) characterizes the erratic block. Scientific examinations have turned out that organic material has reached the ground below the rock. However, it is not quite clear whether it can be attributed to sacrificial offerings.
You should remember all details you see at this spot. In the near future I will activate a multi-cache "Findlinge – Finale" that will refer to the series "Findlinge I – IV". Since you have to travel a relatively large distance, the main cache will contain more valuable stuff.
The Cache is not hidden in the immediate vicinity of the sacrifice stone, since the hollow gets wet during winter. You can find the container at a bearing of 99° (true north) and 99 m distance.
