Iverson Park Wet Foot 1 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Larson: Iverson Park Wet Foot #1 has been archived. The cache was taken and partly burned, sometime in the past couple of weeks. Sorry, there was not much left to recover. With all the traffic through the park I think I will leave this location alone for a while. Happy caching!

Joe

Geocache Description:

Stop and enjoy a few quiet moments by the river.

The Iverson Park Nature Trail is part of Stevens Point's 30 mile Green Circle system. On nice days there might be lots of people on the trail, so be discreet. Park at N44 31.194 W089 32.444 and follow the nature trail to about a hundred feet from the cache, then go overland. There are some low areas, so watch out or you might get a wet foot like I did.

It might be easier to get to this cache by canoe, but it is possible on foot. We go exploring around here quite often, since it is less than a mile from our home.

You could run into lots of natural Wisconsin wildlife on the trail, depending on the season. I've seen ducks, deer, turtles, beaver, otters, and cranes, not to mention the usual squirrels and birds.

Starting cache contents include: signal whistle, first aid kit, emergency blanket, pin-on compass, mini biners, two pencils, and a pen.

By popular request, I turned this into a multi-cache, effective July 1, 2003. However, cache #2 was disappeared sometime in July 2007. The replacement cache #2 was gone within the first week so I decided to stick with a single cache.

Please re-hide the cache as well as you found it, or better. =)

WINTER Cachers alert: the trails are officially for cross country skiing in the winter. Hikers and dogs are asked to stay off. These caches are findable in the winter, however, add one to the difficulty and terrain ratings.

6/17/2009 This cache will have to be archived. Jonnewman was kind enough to bring the remains to me and I gave it an appropriate sendoff. I should be glad it lasted six years. This area is still there, still fun to explore, and there's a fox in the neighborhood now, so if you come to find this cache you could still have an interesting hike.
