This is my first cache. I have always wanted to place one here at
Nobska Point, since this is where I grew up and enjoyed watching the boats out
in the Sound. The coordinates may be slightly off. I could only get
an accuracy of 34 feet. If you have trouble, the hints should get you
there pretty easily. If someone gets more accurate coordinates, please
email them to me and I will update this page.
The cache is a 4-inch diameter PVC pipe painted brown and has the official
Geocache label. There are a couple of rocks holding it down so
unsuspecting people won't stumble upon it.
What you may find inside:
- The official Geocache welcome
- Official logbook
- Topo map of your general location
- A short history of Nobska Lighthouse
- A handful of pennies (fun to go through if you want to spend some time)
- One Matchbox car and one Matchbox plane
- Bob the Builder Travel Bug (looks like Bob has moved on)
Enjoy!! :-)
Please note that the picture of the cache location may give the hiding
spot away. Decrypt the clues for more information...Cheater!!! ;)
5/10/03 - A few cachers have expressed concern over the terrain, especially for little children. I have bumped up the terrain difficultly from a 2 to a 3.5 for this reason. Please be safe and enjoy!!!
8/24/03 - Looks like everyone is enjoying the Nobska Cache. I have been toying with suspending the cache from November through March for worry that someone may slip on the icey rocks. Plus Cape winters can see some pretty brisk winds. If any geocachers checking this page have any thoughts please email me. Keep enjoying..
