Geocache Description:

Sigmund Stern Grove is a beautiful natural area in the Southwest corner of the city which is way bigger than you would expect, even including a lake or two. Originally a private ranch featuring the Trocadero Hotel (a site where much gambling and carousing occurred in pre-Prohibition days), the land was purchased in 1931 by Mrs. Rosalie Stern in memory of her late husband Sigmund, who had been president of Levi Strauss in the 20's.

Now the park is most famous for its summer concerts, though it is a great place to walk (if you don't mind steep hikes!) and tons of people bring their dogs here.

The cache isn't exactly located in the most scenic part of the park, but the heavy tree cover and the fact that the park is in a valley made this one of the few spots that I could get a consistent GPS reading. Word to the wise - get a good sense of where you need to go before entering the park, because you may lose connection once you get in there. I encourage you to explore this park once you've found what you're looking for.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to update this to reflect the new cache. Thanks to Marky and Joani, the AWOL cache was replaced by a tupperware covered in black duct tape. Travel Bug and camera, sadly, have never been recovered.
