Geocache Description:

Short Description:
The cache is a regular cache in an ammo box. The area has been known to have rattlesnakes, keep your eyes open. This cache is on private land, please be courteous to the landowner, who has kindly given us permission to share this view.

Long Description:
The view from this cache is spectacular! Your first thought might be that it’s nearly impossible to get to, but perseverance pays off. The cache rests high in the "Devil’s Den" hills north of Arnold. (This very picturesque area was rumored to be the hangout for outlaws in the days before settlement.) This small rural village has a lot to offer the occasional geocacher or travelers who’d like to stay longer.
Arnold Recreational Park presents a quiet comfortable place to fish and camp. A vast variety of businesses provide all the amenities visitors and residents need.
A very active Chamber of Commerce and community offers a variety of entertaining events throughout the year. A description of just a few of the events you’ll be able to enjoy in Arnold follow: Christmas Around Town helps kick off the New Year with a parade, housing tour, and lighting contest.
In March, you’ll find judges tasting the finest chili in the area at the annual "Chili Cook-off" which offers great food and even greater entertainment.
The Blue’s Fest in July saw its last concert in 2011. The following year, the Devil's Den Motorcycle Organization filled the gap by having its first Rally and Charity Poker Run. Thousands of dollars have been generated for Autism Awareness, Out of the Darkness, and TeamMates organizations. Devil's Den Motorcycle Rally is still up and running the first weekend in July, and has been a very successful event. Bands play Friday nights and Saturday nights with the Poker Run through the beautiful hills of Custer County on Saturday. Breakfasts are offered at the Community Center Saturday and Sunday Mornings. Other entertaining events also occur for those who don't ride motorcycles.
An event, started in 2001 , is S.O.R.C. (Sandhills Open Road Challenge). It has seen amazing success, and has donated back to the community of Arnold in so many ways. Our beautiful Community Center is just one of the projects that was possible due to their generous funds. The SORC is a "one of a kind" 55-mile road race that has earned Custer County the title of home of "Nebraska’s Fastest Mile". Fifty- four entries in 2002 competed on the winding country road. In 2010, we had 130+ entries. (For more information, visit www.sorcrace.com.)
Fourth of July Blowout, an annual event in Arnold celebrates the season’s bounty, with game booths, produce contests, free barbecue, and lots of entertainment.
