Geocache Description:

Spelunker Lookout

Posted coordinates above will bring you to the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area just north of Warsaw, Ontario (approximately 25 km north-east of Peterborough).

Near the front gate, you will find a trail map (N44 27.712 W78 07.809). On this map you will find 3 hiking/x-c ski trails. One of these trails will bring you to the spot where the following picture was taken. Be sure to compare the picture and the map carefully before choosing your route.

Once you reach the spot in the photo. Stop. Carefully set your GPSr down as seen in the picture below (this will help improve your satellite reception). Finally, take a deep breath and enjoy the view.

Spelunker Lookout

Now mark a waypoint in this EXACT spot. Project this waypoint 261.7 metres at a bearing of 223 degrees True North. There you will find the cache. That's it, that's all. Good luck.

The entire hike is 5 kilometres. In the winter, the trail is used for x-c skiing.

Geocache is in a medium sized camouflaged container - and yes, it will fit CDs. The cache is hidden out of sight up off the ground. Be sure to replace its protective cover/camouflage. Please be VERY careful to leave it exactly as you found it! We wouldn't want the cache to go missing in action. Thank you.

Finally, please do not include any spoilers in your logs. Unfortunately, logs with spoilers (such as a picture or description that provides extra clues) will have to be deleted immediately. BUT don't get us wrong we love to see pictures posted, just be careful with what might show up in the background.

Ciao and happy "spelunking",

TRIPPER & fam.

NOTES:

  1. Winter friendly.
  2. During camping seasson, there may be a day use fee.
  3. 'Spelunker' defined... Modern dictionaries define a spelunker as "...a person who explores caves." Technically that definition is correct. However, according to cave exploration experts, spelunkers are generally considered absolute amateurs with no training and lacking any knowledge of current cave exploration techniques.
  4. For more information on the Warsaw Caves, visit the following websites:
Boooo!! Does anybody recognize 'Johanna Wandel'? I was surprised to find her name turn up after my Internet search (after I planted the cache). It's a small world (with lots of good cache spots ).
