The Norwegian Gentleman Farmer Cache Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Moun10Bike: Hi rastalogger,

I am one of the volunteer admins for Geocaching.com. I was just reviewing your "Norwegian Gentleman Farmer" cache (GCG162).

It looks as if this cache has been gone for some time - the last logs are dated in July of last year. As stated in the cache listing guidelines available at http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx:

You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time – normally a few weeks – in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive or transfer the listing.

While Geocaching.com would like to continue to hold the location for you, doing so blocks other cachers from placing caches in the area. We feel that this cache has been disabled for a period of time exceeding what is reasonable for the area, and thus I regretfully must archive it.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thank you for your understanding,

Jon (Moun10Bike)
Geocaching.com admin.

Geocache Description:

I think my grandfather, a Norwegian Farmer, used to store his savings this way. I rated the terrain a 2 because of the maze of trails, some of them just light paths, even though the park is small. I rated the difficulty a 3 because of the 2 clues and the concealed nature of the cache. My 6 and 8 year old children helped find the spot and hid the cache - the little devils. Given the description it might be easier than it is rated.

It really is a great all around park with sunny and shady quiet space for those who want it. The accuracy on my GPS went from 20 feet to 38 feet when I got in the woods, so I've provided many clues.

Check out the picnic shelter. Add the number of picnic tables to the last two digits in W 122 11.932. Follow the path to the northeast. Count the large round stones and add the number of stones to the last two digits in N 47 22.851. If you don't see large round stone right away keep walking. Now you have the coordinates and you're not too far away. You can get to the cache from three different paths.

The cache is a one gallon plastic jar painted black. It is sitting in a sleeve that I put in a depression, so the top is level with the forest floor. You can easily reach it from the path; no need to tromp around in the brush. The cache is equidistant between two cedar trees; seven or eight steps from each. It is also roughly in line between two deciduous trees, but closer to one than the other. Stand facing Southwest-ish where the lines between the trees intersect and you’ll be almost on top of it. You just have to move a stick and brush away a few leaves to see the cache.

Please put the “cover” back the way you found it.
