This cache has been archived.

Prime Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Located at Greenbelt Reservoir near Clarendon, Texas. Just a short drive off of I-40 or U.S. Highway 287.

Greenbelt Reservoir now covers the original townsite of Clarendon. In 1878 the townsite was established and soon earned the nickname "Saint's Roost" from outsiders because of the church atmosphere in town. In 1887 the citizens voted to move their homes and businesses six miles south to the Fort Worth and Denver City Railway. The original "Saint's Roost" townsite was inundated in 1968 by Greenbelt Reservoir.

The cache is a clear plastic container. The roads around the lake are dirt, but well maintained. You will be able to park close to the cache, so only a short walk is required. There is a day use fee of $3/person for ages 15 and up. Permits can be purchased at the marina.

Happy hunting!
