Geocache Description:

Staunton Dam,just a mile beyond the North River Campground has a beautiful picnic and some great fishing spots. This cache was relocated on Jan. 3, 2011, to make it easier to find!

Note: edited Jan. 3, 2011

The muggles took Geo-Picnic away,
So we will hide it another way.
Instead of being inside of a tree,
In the picnic area for all to see,
We moved it down the road a piece.
Will the muggle attractions cease?

Go to the numbers and turn to the south,
Stopping about ten yards in front of the mouth.
Facing the gate you'll see a stone cap.
Approach this from the back.
We hope you find it, and have fun on the way
And to all the muggles “Please stay away”

This "gate" is the opening to a tunnel that was used in building the dam. My mother tells the story of losing some youth from her church group picnic, only to find out hours later that they had walked TRHOUGH this tunnel to get back home, leaving the picnic group without telling them.

The dam adjoining the picnic area was built to provide water for the city of Staunton. There are some popular fishing spots both above and below the dam.

This cache is within walking distance of the Staunton Dam cache by MandKFarmer. Together we hope they will make a fun duo.
