Geocache Description:

Barney's Book Nook

ACHTUNG!
The cache itself is NOT at these coordinates. You will need to enter this wonderful yet eccentric civic building and answer some questions to find the final coordinates for this cache!

To find this cache, you will need to go to the library at the above coordinates and answer some questions. We made sure that all of the answers can be found in the REFERENCE section, meaning those books you need to find will never be checked OUT. If for some reason someone is using one of these books, you are SOL until they put it down. The hours for this place are as follows, and keep in mind, to find this you MUST go inside to find the answers during their OPEN HOURS!:

  • Monday through Thursday 10am - 8pm
  • Friday 10am - 6pm
  • Saturday 10am - 4pm
  • Sundays & Holidays - Closed!

  • Seek out the following books (in bold) in the Reference Section. Find the answers to fill in the coordinates. Your final cache coordinates will be:

  • N 44* WW.XXX or N 44* ___._______

Now that you have answered the questions, take a relatively short drive out to find the cache. The container is a massive ammo can that's practically impossible to hide, but we did the best we could. The access is complicated, but we hope local and experienced cachers will be able to work out the proper route with the help of the following hints... You'll be driving within half a mile on paved roads but the best route to the cache is customarily round-about. By approaching from higher ground you can drive within a quarter mile, but you'll be dealing with about a mile of unimproved roads. The contents of this cache represent the standards of the Fifer's collection. These are his books that he has graciously chosen to share with you, the geocaching public. All he asks is that you replace your withdrawal with an equal or more superior selection (BOOK) from your own collection. He does however ask that you avoid placing any porn, ads, or religious materials in the Nook. The TravelBug Kurt's Cradle begins its journey here in Barney's cache. Although it's a mighty quick read, the Fifer finds this to be one of the most deeply affecting reading experiences of his young life. Fifer fancies himself to be the wampeter of the Kelly's Heroes karass, but that may be a bit too much Bokononism for the layman's vocabulary.
