Geocache Description:

The East of Nowhere geocache is located... well... out near the middle of nowhere, near an out-of-the-way fishing & swimming spot on the upper end of Woods Reservoir, the first lake on the Elk River!

Figuring out which roads to follow to get out here near the middle of nowhere is half the challenge. The other half is getting to the cache. The geocaching.com coordinates are for a parking area about a half mile from the cache location.

The only legal way to get to the cache location without trespassing is to follow the half mile trail from the parking area, along the marked TWRA property, between the lakeshore and the large boulders placed along the private property line. Driving/parking any closer to the cache means you will be trespassing on newly developed private lots between the road and the line of boulders... DON'T DO IT!

A mule team or a 4 wheeler might get you to the cache easier… but this is a great place for a hike or mountain bike ride along the lakeshore trail, that gives you time to drop a line in the water, take a dive off the rope swing, and watch & listen to the many birds in the trees! Bug & tick spray is the standard recommendation for the woods, too.

The cache is located at these coordinates... 35 18.765N and 86 01.255W
The cache container is a medium size ammo box with the 'official geocache' label.

Original contents of the regular cache... log book & pens, Earth Wise pencil kit, golf towel, mini flashlight, mini biner, Tennessee 3-Star lapel pin, AEDC FCU can hugger, geocaching.com patch, Where’s George dollar, pair of new AA batteries.

For being so far out in the toolies this place shows a lot of activity, and though there are organized clean-ups around the lake once or twice a year, Cache In & Trash Out will be much appreciated!

Another Elk River Valley geocache by James on the Elk River!
