There are two possible entrances to where this cache is (probably more but two that we found). Parking place #1 is 33.00.275N 097.09.421W. This is by far the easier trip. Parking place #2 is 32.59.983N 097.08.511W. There are "No Lake Access" and "No Outlet" signs along the way, but both access points are clearly marked ACE trailheads with parking space.
This cache is hidden on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property. It's on the south side of Lake Grapevine. We accidentally stumbled across this area. It has horse trails that are obviously very popular so be careful where you step! Of course, if you are native to Texas then you know about the fire ants, stickers, vines and snakes. And I refuse to even discuss the HEAT! We placed this not too far off the path. The cache is in a fairly heavy wooded area so you may get altering readings on your GPS. It's hidden in a usual cache place...We came up with the name CacheCairns because we have two Cairn Terriers. (You can see their pic in the actual cache.) The word Cairn seemed so appropriate for Geocaching as a cairn is described by Webster's:
(noun) 1: a mound of stones piled up as a memorial or to mark a boundary or path 2: small rough-haired breed of terrier from Scotland [syn: cairn terrier].
The cache is full of dog and cat toys!
HAPPY HUNTING!
