This is the replacement cache for the Oakoasis-San Vicente Overlook cache that came up missing. It is hidden a little ways further up the trail.
The cache is located in the Oakoasis Open Space Preserve off of Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside. The trails are very well marked and open to dogs, horses, hikers, but not bikes.
This is a 2.5 mile loop trail thru shady oak groves, but you can go directly to the cache and back track if you wish.There are two other caches on this loop trail, so you can find all three in one trip!
The staging area is at: N32 54.765 W116 53.239. This trail is part of the S.D. County trails system under construction. We suggest that you take the Nature Trail when you get to it and go down thru the Oak grove. Wild Turkeys have been seen down there, ( the kind with feathers , not glass) and there is a restored cabin that has been there since 1936 with a new outhouse! From here you can either continue on the trail or cut up over the Meadows trail, they come out in the same place. Stop and enjoy the great view on the rock at the Scenic Overlook, then on up the trail for another great view of the back of the lake!
Cache is in a medium ammo box and initially contained:
Yrium's Pals Iron Chef and Mark71Mark trading cards, 2 micro containers, mini screwdriver combo set, caribeaner, squishy eyeball, squishy pig, pin, new Hot Wheels truck, squirt gun, bundle of wire ties and 2 small geckos.
We are starting Splashman's Harley TB here again with the copy tag on it. The original is lost somewhere in Michigan.
The goal is the same, to get to Sturgis, SD in time for the big rally in August.
