Geocache Description:

This is a multicache in honor of Flag Day, originally placed by Scintillefamily.

In honor of Flag Day, which is June 14, we set up this cache in what is commonly known as Flag Park. Because this park has proven to be hard on waypoints, we have modified the cache to include the first waypoint only. The above coordinates are for parking and the first waypoint.

The first waypoint is a plaque placed in 1985 dedicated to the groups and organizations that have donated a flag to be posted on one of the many flag poles in the “Avenue of Flags”. To get the coordinates for the cache you’ll have to solve the following puzzle.

First: One of the following statements is false. Take the number corresponding to the false statement and call it A.

1. The flag of the United States is flown upside down only as a distress signal.
2. When the flag is displayed over a street, it should be hung vertically, with the union to the north or east. If the flag is suspended over a sidewalk, the flag's union should be farthest to the building.
3. When on display, the flag is accorded the place of honor, always positioned to its own right. Place it to the right of the speaker or staging area or sanctuary. Other flags should be to the left.
4. When displaying the flag against a wall, vertically or horizontally, the flag's union (stars) should be at the top, to the flag's own right, and to the observer's left.
5. The flag should be raised briskly and lowered slowly and ceremoniously. Ordinarily it should be displayed only between sunrise and sunset. It should be illuminated if displayed at night.
6. To place the flag at half staff, hoist it to the peak for an instant and lower it to a position half way between the top and bottom of the staff. The flag is to be raised again to the peak for a moment before it is lowered.
7. On Memorial Day the flag is displayed at half staff
8. The flag of the United States is always the first flag raised and the last to be lowered.

You may want to brush up on your flag etiquette first.
Flag Information
A=Number of False statement
B= Number of Stars on the Flag donated by the Wilcox Family
C=Total Number of flagpoles in the “Avenue of Flags” D=B-A

We hope you enjoy finding this cache as much as we have enjoyed hiding it. GPS signals can be very erratic in the park, so we have provided nudges, clues, and spoilers to help.
