Geocache Description:

Enjoy a visit to the westernmost point of the Coast to Coast Walk near St. Bees. Crag Rat who lives nearby has graciously accepted to be co-owner of this cache and will provide maintenance.

This cache is a small container with a log and room for some trading items. The views (when skies are clear) are spectacular of the Isle of Man, the Scottish hills, and the red sandstone cliffs of St. Bees Head. Sit down and relax on the four concrete seats overlooking the cliff West of the St. Bees lighthouse. Please bring a pencil or pen to log the cache. The black guillemot nests nearby and is extremely rare, a true rara avis !The best way to approach this area is from the beach parking lot by St.Bees. It is a glorious 3 mile walk. Do not follow the tarmac road to the lighthouse. The locals do not appreciate walkers traipsing down the lane. Note added 26 Nov 2003: Thanks to Seasider who discovered today that the lane is a marked footpath, but NOT as scenic as the coastal path.
