Hay Head wood is another local nature reserve created from limestone workings and an old canal basin. It's situated next to Aldridge airport, which is now disused, except by model aircraft.
It lies on the Beacon Way, in between Park Lime Pits and Great Scott!. The walk from Park Lime Pits is only about 1.5 miles, and 99.5% of the walk is along a pleasant canal towpath.
There's parking nearby at N52 35.355 W00156.424. Approach from the A454. As with Park Lime Pits, there's a lockable barrier here, so take note of the sign.
Tree cover might cause loss of GPS signal, so there's a clear view of the sky near the cache at N52 35.320 W001 56.166
The paths are well surfaced and fairly easy going.
The cache has a camera: Please take a photo and log the number. When the film is finished I'll post the photos online.
