A boat is required to get to this cache. A canoe or kayak would be the preferred mode of travel. On a calm day it should take about twenty minutes for average paddlers to reach the island. Drive north of La Ronge to Otter Rapids. The Devil Lake campground and boat launch is about 4km further.
Launch from the Devil Lake Campground and cross the lake to Murray Falls. The portage is obvious as you arrive. Walk to the end of the portage (less than 200 meters). Turn around and walk back up the portage until you come to an oddly shaped crooked tree trunk on your left by some large boulders. Leave the trail here and head left up the hill. Be on the lookout for a birch tree stripped of bark from the base to about five feet up the tree. Continue up the hill to find three spruce large trees growing together.
The cache can be found beneath leaves and debris at the base of the third tree (nw side). There is a birch log sitting on top of the leaves covering the cache.
The cache is a screw top plastic tobacco container. Due to the high summer traffic along this portage, the cache container is not visible. The cache is just beneath a pile of leaves and debris.
