Cob Cave. For scale, the yellow circle highlights our 7-year-old.
Easy to get to and easy to hike, the 2.3 mile out-and-back round trip features the following:
Natural Bridge - Water spills from a tunnel through the bluff into a pool below. When the water is running, it's magic. When it's dry, you can actually hike through the bluff to the other side.
Cob Cave - This alone is worth the trip. It's really a huge open room located beneath a 200-foot tall bluff. It's 200 feet wide, 100 feet deep, and 50 feet tall. Funny thing is that it is deceptively unimpressive from the outside - most people walk right past it on their way to Lower Eden Falls beside it.
Eden Falls - Actually four different falls each ranging from 31 to 53 feet tall. Most people see the Lower Falls; with all the mosses and ferns on them it's easy to see where it got its name.
Eden Falls Cave - Those brave enough to make the short crawl inside will come to a room with a roaring 35-foot waterfall.
Other highlights along the way include the Jigsaw Blocks, huge boulders that get their name from the fact that when you look above them at the canyon wall you can see where they fit into the wall long ago; and the Siamese Beeches, two trees that have grown together over the years. During the wet season, on your way back it's worth hanging a sharp left to check out Armadillo Falls a couple hundred yards north of the trail. Located at N 36° 00.909 W 093° 22.853, you can see three different waterfalls at the same time.
