Geocache Description:

steep terrain and muddy when wet. Three bench marks exist within 30 feet of each other, elevation 2080 ft.

This is a great place to listen to the drums of the Seneca Indian Pow Wow held every year in Salamanca, New York 14779. "The only city in the world on an indian reservation" they use to say. Because only ruins remain one can only guess what it once looked like. Any local Historians with information or old photos of the cache area who are willing to share them please contact me. The cache is located in a tree trunk near a cabin root cellar. There are three bench marks within 30 feet of each other surrounding the cache. Please cover the box well because the area is pretty open. The cache is a 50 cal. ammo box and has dollar store goodies and other novelties. The cache area can be accessed by fire roads and more recent 4 wheeler rut roads. Totem poles lay guard to much of the route into the cache area. Street parking exist at Cleveland Aveue and Monroe street on the East and Newton Steet on the West. Huckle Buckle Beanstalk, Rippie caution: black bear scat was found near one of the bench marks and keep and eye out for rattlesnakes.
