*gln: ### ARCHIVING UNMAINTAINED CACHE ###

Greetings thunder_monk,

Looks like our timing is off, and It’s time to say goodbye to this cache.

Since I haven't seen any maintenance plan posted here, I am going to assume that your priorities have changed, and you’ve gone in a different direction.

Archiving due to lack of maintenance is permanent.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Glenn
Thanks a MILLION for all you have done

Geocache Description:

Located just off the road that leads to the Piney River and what used to be Bussman Resort Lodge. This is a 1 mile walk into the cache from the beginning of the road.

An ammo box filled with goodies. This cache is located not far from the site of the old Bussman Fuse Co. Lodge that was built and used by the employees and later by the boy scouts for outings and get aways.
****Please note: The road that leads to this resort is extremely rough and bad and you will need at least a 4 wheel drive vehicle to gain access by road. The road however can be walked with no difficulty by anyone in decent shape. Please park or find the access road at the following coordinates: N 37 49.216 W 092 03.346. To get to this access road you will need to Get off I44 at Highway J (if coming from St. Louis) or Highway 28 exit (if coming from Springfield) Take the south outer road or Highway Z to Teardrop Rd (To Devil's Elbow). Just across or just before the Devil's Elbow bridge (depending on which way you came in) there is a road called Temporal Rd. Take this for about 2.5 miles (very narrow) to the coordinates listed for parking above. Bring a camera : -)****
The site is now owned by the Mark Twain National Forest. Vehicles are permitted to drive to the river (at your own risk) but ATVs are prohibited without a special permit. However the rangers are having problems with ATV riders using this remote section so if you happen to notice them please make note of the license numbers to pass along to the Forest Service office. After you have found the cache please explore the area and look for the following: A spring house and spring and a foundation of the old garage located along the ATV trail(it is to the left of the cache facing downhill)...The remains of the lodge including 2 chimneys and concrete reservoirs for holding bait at: N37 49.464 W092 04.450....Below the lodge is a picnic area and the river. To the left (facing the river) is a trail that leads to a rock bridge and the remains of the old dock. Explore the area and have fun.
Be sure to check out the cache "A view for Jess" which is also in the area and can be more easily accessed from this point.
Remember if you trade please leave something of equal or greater value and hide this cache back well
