Quiddler: I've been driving around with a replacement cache for over a month hoping to get to Louisville to replace this cache. It has become obvious to me that I will not be able to do so in the near future.

I am very reluctant to give up on Cacher at the Bat. At 14 1/2 years it is one of the oldest caches in the area and has long been one of my favorites.

I am heartened by the knowledge that Cacher at the Bat will soon be replaced by a new virtual cache so that cachers will be drawn to the bat for years to come.

Geocache Description:

The above coordinates will bring you to the entrance of the world famous Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger bat factory and museum on Main Street in (where else?) Louisville, KY. This is a two-stop multi cache. The final cache is contained in a Saccharomyces cerevisiae container about a block away from the first stop.

If you're a baseball fan or, perhaps, a wood working fan, you may want to fork over some filthy lucre and check out the museum and tour the bat factory.

For information about the museum go to www.sluggermuseum.org.

To learn the coordinates for the final cache do the math.

For ABC add 315 to the length of the bat in feet.

For DEF add 895 to the date of the month on which the bat was installed.

Final coordinates are 38º 15.ABC 85º 45.DEF

A few rods from the final cache site you will find a bronze plaque, set on a concrete pedestal near the sidewalk, that you may find interesting.

Please be sure that the container's cap is snuggly seated before you replace cache.

Do not attempt the final leg of this cache after dark.
