Take Hwy 4 north from Jemez, then turn left onto Hwy 126. Take
forest road 376 north and park near N35 55.538 W106 39.332. There
isn't a trail to the cache and please don't make one (hard to avoid
if there's snow on the ground, just don't make it obvious). Only
read the hint if you really need to.
Forest road 376 is closed at sunset, so be mindful of visiting
late in the day. It is also closed from mid-December to mid-May.
When it is closed, the terrain rating should be 4 stars. It is a
long hike (6+ miles round-trip) from the paved road. When the road
is open, it is suitable for cars although I would recommend at
least a small truck. There are exposed rocks on parts of the road
as well as plenty of ruts. If you drive slowly, your car should be
fine. The terrain rating is mostly for the drive, as the cache is
within .1 miles of the road.
After finding the cache, continue on FR376 to a beautiful scenic
spot at N35 56.246 W106 39.028.
San Antonio Hot Springs is also up here. You can park at N35 56.465
W106 38.689 and take the trail over the old bridge. There are 4 or
5 pools fed from the spring. It is a great place to relax after a
long day of caching!
