Douglas Bridge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sagefox: Looks like both our "what have they done to my bridge?" caches are gone. Grassy Flats disappeared when it's cover tree was cut down.

Forgot to stop by to confirm this one missing on our way through this morning so I will just archive it now. Will check on it next pass and report back what I find or don't find. Cache will remain archived so the site is now free for someone else.

Thanks to all who visited.

Geocache Description:

The Golden Bears guard this cache but they know you have authorization to be here so you will be safe.

This is the second bridge puzzle we’ve found in Del Norte county. These overlooks are obviously the old Highway 101 bridges but it perplexes us as to how they made these look like they were original. We placed our very first cache, Grassy Flats, at the other former bridge.

The concrete work looks like it is from the 1930’s. Check out the corner joints where the railing connects to the two sides. The real mystery is how did they make those joints look original? Concrete work on other bridges, even from the 1960’s, still looks new.

Bears keep an eye on Roadcow, Wienerdog and Team Sagefox.

The container is a small camo painted ammo can. Please be careful finding and hiding if there are others around. Not a high traffic area so you should be o.k. and people don't stay for long. Thank you.

The difficulty rating is low in order to inform finders that the container is not down the steep bank or under the bridge.

Bear watches Spark's every move.
