Geocache Description:


This cache is located in Nike Park in Addison. The funny thing is this nice little park is situated in, of all things, the center of an industrial area. Access to the park is from Rohlwing Rd(Rt53).

I've known about this park for a long time but didn't know about it's history until the day I placed this cache here. I just happened to do a search on the internet about the park and discovered that this park used to be a Nike Missile Site.

The radar tower, still standing at this site, used to be open to the public as an observation deck. It provided a great view. On a clear day you could see the skyscrapers in downtown Chicago. Unfortunately, access to this tower has now been closed off.
