Small ammo can in a hole in the ground just north of the Snow Hole.
The Snow Hole is a cleft in the ground that you can easily climb down into. There is snow at the bottom of the cleft (almost) all year round. I didn't want to leave the cache in the Snow Hole, I wanted to leave it as pristine as I could. The cache is behind and slightly uphill from the Snow Hole.
To get there park at the coordinates for the Tiny Pagoda cache, waypoint GCG8FR. Hike north on the Taconic Crest trail.
Cache is on the edge between New York state land and the Hopkins Forest, owned by Williams College. The Taconic Crest trail is maintained by the Williams Outing Club and I have permission from the Director of the club to place the cache.
Have fun, the Snow Hole is worth the hike!
Note added 3 years after the cache was placed: Snow in the snow hole doesn't last long into summer anymore. This is likely due to global warming. If you haven't seen the movie "An inconvenient truth" you really should.
Another note, 10 years after placement: I don't think anyone disbelieves global warming anymore. Snow didn't last much past spring this year.
