Geocache Description:

Short(ish) walk up one of the most spectacular ridges in the White Peak. A short hard climb!

Although there are no rights of way along the ridge of Chrome Hill there is a very well trodden path which runs the length of the ridge. The landowner does not mind people enjoying his hill! I suggest you either park on the road verge or opposite Dowall Hall farm (N 53° 12.3'; W 001° 53.3') (which has a good tea-room- much needed on the way down.) It is probably best approached from the south-eastern edge of the ridge where it meets the road (N 53° 12.0' ; W 001° 53.2'). A more gentle approach may be found starting at Stoop Farm (N 53° 12.6': W 001° 54.3') to the north-west. This ridge is one of the few places in the Peak District where I get vertigo! Cache is placed in a crevice on the north-western end of the ridge. Check out www.cressbrook.co.uk/walks/walk10.htm for more info on Chrome Hill and an alternative, longer walk.
