Geocache Description:

Don't take the easy way out and walk in! Give the ratings a point or two extra, launch your boat and enjoy the beauty of Herring Brook Valley.

Although it is not required, our recommended route to this cache site involves paddling in a canoe or kayak. It’s not a strenuous undertaking; we do it with little kids and an old dog. The Division of Fisheries and Wildlife maintains a nice put-in area in Hanover at the Indian Head River (N 42 06.002 W 070 49.141). Keep an eye on the tide charts, as during low tide there isn’t much water left in which to paddle. Because you’re several miles inland, add about 3 hours to the tide readings at the mouth of the North River. The freshwater tidal marsh teems with life; great blue herons, marsh wrens, snapping turtles, dragonflies, wild rice, yellow flag, and stands of Atlantic white cedar are easily found. You have to come ashore on Pembroke conservation lands to find the cache, but it’s not a long walk from your boat.

The cache is in a clear tupperware container, and the initial contents have been heavily influenced by our 4 year old: little toys, mardi gras necklaces, Disney pencil, science center passes and her brother's winter hat... Also launching our Baa Ram Ewe TB.
