Sponsored by

Registration is NOW OPEN! - put this cache on your watch list and you will get an e-mail if any update is made to the page.

What? - Food, Fun, Games, and Prizes. So far we have prizes from the following sponsors: A GPS and other items from Magellan!, A staff from El Diablo, Texas Geocoins, a book and map ruler from GPS navigator magazine, Hats and Shirts from Garmin, a Map from mytopo.com, Hats from Cabela's, OFF!® Botanicals(tm), 2 $25 certificates from Camping World, Magazines from Hooked, 2 daypacks and other geoswag from Darkmoon, and a staff from beatnik.

When? - September 27th 11:00am - September 28th 2:00pm, 2003 (campers are encouraged and welcome to come the 26th for the best camping spots!)

Where? - Sequoyah State Park, with headquarters located at the Creek Campground pavilion. (see cost below)

Why? - To have fun of course. The event is open to all skill levels and ages. If you've been geocaching for 2 days or 2 years there will be plenty to do. Hey at least come for the great food and friendship if nothing else.

Games! - The segment you have all been waiting for. We have at least 3 games planned so far.

* Hide and Seek II - back by popular demand, get your thinking caps on and create the best geocache you have to offer. Bring your pre-made cache to the event to hide. You will be graded on your cache's look and content as well as hiding ability. There is no trading or logging. You should always place the cache back as found so that others can grade properly. Get a copy of the cache page HERE and edit it if you want to pre-make a copy using Microsoft Word. Bring extra copies if you wish. You will have from Friday to Saturday at 11am to hide your cache. Which means you should plan to be at the park no later than 10am on Saturday if you wish to hide a cache. Be sure and see me first at the event to get your verification contents.
* Quick Cache - Nana Bugbit has a quick cache set up for us. You will be timed on your ability to find a series of caches and create something from the contents within. She's not giving me any hints but it looks to be quite humorous and interesting.
* The Amazing Geocache - Imagine the CBS show The Amazing Race combined with Geocaching. You have 24 hours to complete your task if you choose to accept it. Follow the route markers and test your travel, survival, and geographical knowledge. Navigate through the Roadblocks and make tough choices at the Detours. You can benefit from your persistence. or suffer the consequence of resorting to a Fast Forward.

Cost? - You will be required to pay for your own tent or RV sites. Prices are $8 per tent (kids tents 18 under are free). RV sites are located nearby in the Seminole campground at $15. If you want an RV site you can reserve one by calling the park office. (see link under where? above) The park does not reserve individual campsites. It is first come first serve. You can share sites but still have to pay per tent.
We will once again have meals in a similar manner as the Spring Fling. BSA Troop 84 has volunteered to provide us with an array of great camp meals to raise funds for the Troop. Your meal ticket will be $15 per adult and $7.50 for the kids. That price will provide you with 3 meals. Dinner on the 27th and breakfast and lunch on the 28th. Trust us, you won't go hungry, and you are giving to a great cause at the same time!

Registration - To register for the event you will need to fill out the following form and mail it by the date listed. The prices will go up after that date so register early. The registration can be found HERE. You will need Adobe Acrobat reader to fill out and print the form. There is a link below to install Acrobat if you don't already have it.

Free Laminates - This year we will be providing laminated event badges with a similar Event Logo as you see above. They are yours as a keepsake from the event. So make sure you register as soon as possible. If you don't get your registration in early you'll miss out.

T-shirts! - This year we have an event shirt. If we have a minimum of 15 shirts ordered we will be able to get the shirts for $10. $13 for 2X-4X. We are selling these at cost. Please note there will be a cutoff date for the shirts. If you miss the deadline you can still order your shirt through Cafepress but the cost will be much higher than the discount we are getting in bulk. There is an example of the shirt on the cafepress site HERE. The only way to get the shirt now is by buying it online via cafepress.

Schedule - This is the tentative schedule for the weekend. Subject to change on a whim or just because beatnik feels like it.
