This cache is very near the top of Broken Leg mountain. Trail is steep in parts. Take water. All day hike of about 11 miles.
I set this cache with a GPSmap 60csx Garmin . The cache is a black plastic paint can containing a Travel Bug No. 302744 (Daisy) , Arizona flag decal, Organ Pipe National monument Pin,Chilkoot trail patch, Iditarod Sleddog Race Pin, A dog Bootee from the 1999 Iditarod race, filled with fur seal teeth from the Pribilof Islands. The UTM coordinates for the cache are 0284778, 5328753 (nad27 conus datum)
There are several ways to reach this cache But they require very long hikes. One way would be from Jewel Basin, But I will give directions for a short cut not shown on the maps.
Use Crater Lake quadrangle, Montana, which can be purchased from the Swan Lake R.S. in Bigfork, MT. Take Bear Creek Rd, which is at mile post 85 on highway 83 east of Bigfork. Go 1.8 miles and park at the first iron gate. From there you will see another small road leading off to the left , this road will have an iron gate also but will be closed. Walk up this road about 1.5 miles to Waypoint 48 06.124, 113 56.413. At this point the road crosses over the ridge and heads up Wolf creek, don't go up Wolf creek . An unmarked trail used by the Forest Service takes off to the right and heads up the ridge to trail 544 .8 of a mile. From there stay on trail 544 to the cache
