8 (Ate) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

flossmoor: Interesting to note:

1) This is my second of three caches planted on the same day that, to date, have been archived.
2) Another cache on my watch list (Walnut Points) just had a note posted by the cache owner of the need to replace all containers due to faunamuggling.

I've been planning a move, and so unable to get up there to replace containers. Plans have changed, though, and the move will not take me closer to the area as originally thought. More importantly: the location was selected as a novice and clearly is a "critterhome"; it was also one of the few points (and I mean points) that can get a clear satellite shot when the canopy is full. To move the cache would be to move it a distance, and either way, archiving the original listing is the logical and necessary eventuality.

Thanks to all who visited. Admin: please archive this cache.

Geocache Description:

This path is part of the Portland Arch Nature Preserve, but is accessed from a different location on the property.

Parking coordinates: N 40deg 12.858' W087deg 19.858

Cache container is a modified 4" x 3" x 2" M258A1 (decon) container (be sure to reseal the lid tightly for waterproofing). Starting contents include:

- Cheap'n Dirty Logbook
- Nifty Amazing Shrunken Gel Pen (for use if you forget your pencil, so please, DON'T pilfer)
- A couple mini tape measure keychain thingies

The difficulty ratings represent those suggested by the rating system supported by Groundspeak. The terrain really isn't THAT bad. There will be a few steps and elevation changes, but these are natural parts of the trail. Overall difficulty will fluctuate due to foliage cover and the strength of your batteries; you should be able to get a clear reading from the cache site, but that isn't very helpful when coverage cuts in and out during the walk (grin).

Cache is relatively close to the path. Traffic appears to be minimal, so being observed may not be much of an issue.
