Geocache Description:

A nice, physically easy cache in McKay Park, Jefferson City, without ticks, poison ivy, or other unpleasantness. McKay Park is one of Jeff City’s most popular parks for walkers, so please be discrete during your search and re-hide the cache well. The listed coordinates bring you to the parking lot where you start your search.

Come on down, you are the next contestant on The Price Is Right. And now, here is the star of the Price Is Right . . . Bob Barker.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Price Is Right. Now is your chance to win anyone of a number of prizes in our special Showcase including: an Angel Pin Kit; Slinky Jr.; Scooby Doo Coloring Book and Markers; Basketball Record Keeper; a Dinosaur; Finger Skate-Scooter; Make Your Own Key Chain Kit; TH&G Geotoken from Wyoming; a Star Eraser; and a Tee-shirt. Rod, tell us about the first item up for bid.

Thanks Bob, today's first item up for bid is a fabulous family sized picnic pavilion. There are 4 identical picnic pavilions just off the parking lot located at N38.33.603 / W092.ll.925 in McKay Park. Each picnic pavilion comes with spacious picnic table, heavy-duty barbecue pit, covered roof with attached shelf, a cement floor and the price includes all the labor involved in building it.

Thanks Rod, whoever bids closest to the actual retail price of one of these pavilions with out going over, gets the correct coordinates for the Showcase. Now, this is how you play the game. If you look carefully in each pavilion, you will find both a price and a set of coordinates written in the same place on each of the four pavilions. The price will be rounded to the nearest twenty-five dollars and the coordinates displayed will be the last three numbers of the latitude and longitude of that coordinate. All coordinates for this game will be N38.33. _ _ _ / W092.ll. _ _ _. The correct price is matched with the coordinates that bring you directly to the Showcase. One incorrect guess gives you coordinates that will send you to a dead end. In the other two, you will have to find someone that will help you get the correct coordinates.

The person who will help you is Dorothy Clark. Dotty worked for Jeff City Parks and Recreation for years, but she is now retired. Her son works for CBS on the Price is Right show. Dotty is always happy to help you, but she will only get you close. She wants you to take the last steps on your own so you can feel your own sense of accomplishment.

In one of the incorrect guesses, the coordinates you find take you to a location where you get a new set of coordinates that take directly to Dotty's Memorial Tree. Dotty will give you a hint. Take the number of years she worked and put them in N38.33.5 _ _. Take the last two numbers of year she retired and put them in W092.ll.6 _ _.

In another incorrect guess, the coordinates will bring you to a water meter cover. Now you will have to put on your pirate hat, because that meter cover has a compass direction to follow and an approximate number of paces to walk. That's how we did it before GPS. If you get that clue right, you will get the coordinates that, again, take you to Dotty. Just follow the hint above to get to the cache.

Good luck and enjoy the Price Is Right.

This cache is approved by the Jeff City Parks Department and in keeping with Jefferson City's new park geocaching policy, out of towners are encouraged to mention where they're from when they post their online find logs. The city would like to know who is visiting their parks.
