Geocache Description:

This virtual cache is at the Japanese Garden in Balboa Park, one of my favorite places to visit. Enter from Woodley Avenue. The coordinates above will take you to the guard station, which is the gate on the left.

Hours for the garden are Monday-Thursday, noon - 4pm, and Sunday, 10am - 3pm. Tea and cookies are served on many Sundays. Docent tours are offered in the mornings by reservation. There is an admission charge ($5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children), and an annual membership is now available. The park is occasionally closed for film shoots and private parties, so if you are coming from a distance, you might want to call ahead. The phone number is (818)756-8166, and more information is available at (visit link)

The Japanese Garden is part of the San Fernando Valley's Water Reclamation Plant, and was designed by the noted international award-winning designer Dr. Koichi Kawana.

Park in the lot and stop in the gift shop to get your admittance sticker. Take a detour into the bonsai garden, then enjoy the scenic beauty of this landmark!

PLEASE RESPECT THE TRANQUILITY OF THE GARDEN AND THE OTHER VISITORS.
