Geocache Description:

This cache was placed for the 2003 Chicagoland Geocachers Picnic. It will continue on as a permanent cache.

Nestled on the east bank of the Fox River is a museum surrounded by forty acres of woods called Red Oak Nature Center. Inside the museum building you will find exhibits on natural history designed to spark your imagination and curiosity. These displays invite “hands-on” participation and lead you to a better understanding of the natural world.

The main reason to visit Red Oak is to enjoy the outdoors. You can choose between several trails of various length to explore. Trail side signage will help explain some of the secrets of nature. One of our trails will bring you to “Devil’s Cave”. Rich in folklore, the cave is a favorite attraction for many visitors.

Visit Red Oak Nature Center! It's a natural way to spend a day. Located on Route 25 in North Aurora, the center is open year round: Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. No admission fee charged. For information call (630) 897-1808.
